One receives relentless bashing from readers, most often never being offered aid to polish their despised character. While, in the writer's eyes, their accused Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu is the perfect reflection of what they have always wanted to see - whether it be in the fandom's world or simply themselves in a new light - a community's opinion tends to differ greatly. Granted, if the character is created for your own entertainment, then having a Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu should be of no concern. You are free to fulfill your personal desires when simply writing for
